the woodward effect

The Woodward Effect:

Getting to Know Kayla Lauren Woodward

By: Amanda Everett, English 336.002

In Frederick, (http://www.frederick.com/), in the year 1990 Kayla Woodward came to the earth. She was born into a crazy family. She states, “My family is off the wall nuts!” These were her very words. Kayla told of a near death experience she once had when she was younger. Her mother had to go visit her sister and give her something. Kayla couldn’t remember what. Kayla went on to say that her mother is always absentminded. With that in mind she, her mother, and her brother arrived at her aunt’s home and her mother was in such a hurry that she got out of the car leaving the car in drive. Meanwhile, Kayla and her brother were still in the car. While it was rolling down the hill her brother luckily put it in park.

Kayla has been at Frostburg State University for three years and is trying to graduating this year. But there is just one problem. Kayla stated, “I have NO idea what I want to be when I graduate.” With a major in mass communication she hopes she will have no problem finding a job. Kayla loves food. Frostburg has introduced her to her new love; sushi. She has tried it before in many different places but the only place she likes it at is Wasabi Grill at the Country Club Mall.

Kayla’s favorite show is 24. She said “I watch it like it is my job.” So it must be a pretty good show. She also said that she wishes it would have been on longer. The past seasons have been on longer than this season. Kayla loves animals. She would really like to have a puppy.

Kayla is a very special and unique young woman. One very special thing about her is that she met Taylor Swift. Not many people can say that they have met a celebrity. One of her unique qualities is that as she states, “I cannot remember my natural hair color.” Kayla said that she has been dying her hair since she was in eighth grade. Her highlights were a middle school graduation gift from her mother. Kayla has a special relationship with her hair. “I love shampoo!” was her answer when asked what something interesting about herself. She said that she has many different kinds of shampoo from curl activating shampoo; to shampoo that makes your hair “silky smooth”. She has to have a different kind for every day.

A Losing Situation by Christine Williams

Do you remember your high school home football games, the bright lights, the huge score board, and all the fans cheering for their team? Herbert H. Lehman High School of New York City has never experienced the feeling of home field advantage. The school’s football field is only 80 yards, 20 yards shorter than the standard field. There is money put aside for a new football field, but unfortunately there are no vacant lots surrounding the school at this time. So it seems this New York City team will continue to travel for their games.
